The Syndicate of 1993 was a strange beast, part strategy, part action. The Syndicate of 2012 is all action, leaving those who preferred the strategy of the original wanting. And yet there is hope, no matter how small, in the following comments from EA’s Jeff Gamon, who told holy rummy Eurogamer, “The original was such a classic. It’s something I’ve wondered ever since the XCOM remake first showed up: if these publishers are spending millions on these big-budget shooters, can they not find room to develop (or at least fund) a small team making a PC game? A new Syndicate strategy game wouldn’t need to be a blockbuster. Just more of the original. Only slightly nicer looking.
